I cleaned at the same hotel for 18 years – Three days after I was fired, a lawyer called me and told me to sit down

"He called me too. He didn't seem disoriented, sir."

" No. "

He narrowed his eyes. "Excuse me?"

"I said no, Julian. Your father has made his wishes clear. I will not sign anything."

"You're just a cleaning lady," he said, lowering his voice. "Do you understand what my lawyers are going to do to you? They're going to drag you through the courts for years. You'll spend every dollar of your severance pay on legal fees before you even set foot in a courtroom."

"I will not sign anything."

"Then I'll spend them."

He approached, and I forced myself not to back away.

"You have no idea who you're dealing with," he warned me.

"I knew your father for eighteen years," I said softly. "I brought him soup when he was sick. I stayed by his side when he was suffering greatly. Where have you been, Julian?"

His face darkened.
