One of the most common non-medical reasons for pale or chalky-looking stool is a diet that contains excessive amounts of calcium. Dogs that frequently chew on bones or consume raw diets with a high bone content may produce stools that appear dry, crumbly, and much lighter than usual. Calcium supplements, bone meal, and certain specialty treats can also contribute to this change. If your dog has recently eaten more bones or calcium-rich foods than normal, adjusting their diet to a balanced level may allow stool color to return to its typical appearance within a short period.
