Words that one never forgets
The day after the operation, Claudia stopped by briefly. Celina, still in shock, confided her fears to her. Her daughter's response chilled her:
"I don't have time for the sick. Deal with the nurses yourself. I have my own life."
And she leaves again.
The days go by. One, two, three, four… fourteen days without a visit. A nurse kindly asks if the family will be coming. Celina smiles to hold back her tears: “They’re probably busy.”
In this heavy silence, something settles. A new lucidity. Celina thinks back on everything she has given, offered, sometimes imposed. And she understands: what she took for love was more like a mutually maintained dependency.
The decision that changes everything
On the fifteenth day, she received her exit permit. And the very next morning, she called her bank.
"I wish to revoke my daughter's access to my account immediately."
Cards blocked, codes changed, access revoked. Simple. Permanent. Liberating.
Claudia's reaction was immediate. A frantic phone call, incomprehension, anger. But for the first time in a long time, Celina answered with absolute serenity: "You won't be able to use my money anymore."
