The bedroom door creaked softly behind us.
Neither of us had heard anyone approach.
Elaine stood quietly in the doorway.
She looked from Derrick to me.
Then she walked inside.
"I wondered how long it would take."
Derrick looked away.
"You shouldn't have given her the key."
"No."
She stopped beside him.
"I should've done it years ago."
He laughed bitterly.
"So she could see what kind of person she married?"
