My daughter found this bug in the bathroom, and now I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m trying to figure out what it is, if it’s dangerous, and what we’re supposed to do when one shows up inside the house
Many insects that accidentally enter homes are completely harmless. Beetles, moths, lacewings, and other outdoor insects may find their way inside through open doors, windows, or small gaps around the home. These occasional visitors usually do not reproduce indoors or cause damage. In many cases, carefully removing the insect and releasing it outside is all that’s needed.
However, some insects may deserve closer attention. Cockroaches, termites, bed bugs, carpenter ants, and certain pantry pests can sometimes indicate a larger issue that may require inspection or treatment. Identifying the insect correctly is important because different pests require different solutions. Using the wrong product or treatment may not solve the problem and could lead to unnecessary expense.
