Martha gasped. "They weren't on the menu?"

"My turn." He grinned. "I never forgot my access badge."
Martha blinked. "You didn't?"
"Nope. I kept it right here." He tapped his shirt pocket. "I only pretended because you smiled every time you rescued me."

Martha looked at me. "You knew?"
I shook my head. "I honestly didn't."
Everyone laughed.
The laughter was soft. And warm. The kind that comes after surviving something together.
Mr. Howard reached into his wallet. Carefully, he pulled out a faded dinosaur sticker.
"I still carry this."
Martha's eyes widened. "You still have it?"
"I promised my granddaughter I'd never lose it." He smiled. "She asks about you every birthday."
