If you discover that a tick has attached to a person or pet, remove it promptly using fine-tipped tweezers. Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible and pull upward with slow, steady pressure. Avoid twisting, crushing, or squeezing the tick, as this may make removal more difficult. Once removed, clean the bite area with soap and water or an appropriate antiseptic, and wash your hands thoroughly afterward.
