Jill Biden Reveals the One Nighttime Symptom She Flagged to White House Doctors Before Joe's Diagnosis
Once the diagnosis became public, a familiar narrative followed online: that the Biden family had somehow hidden Joe's illness while he was still in office. Jill wasn't having it.
She pointed out that the symptoms Joe experienced only became more obvious after they left Washington, not before, which lines up with when she pushed for the additional testing that ultimately led to the diagnosis.

Ripa backed her up with a story of her own. She explained that her father's cancer was only discovered after a car accident forced doctors to scan his back, revealing cancer in his bones that had gone undetected until that point. "So when people were like, 'There's no way you can't know,' oh, yes, there is," Ripa added.
Doctors say Joe's outlook, while permanent, isn't necessarily bleak. Hormone therapy, radiation, and ongoing monitoring have allowed many men with metastatic prostate cancer to manage the disease for years rather than months.

Medical experts have also pointed to Joe's case as a reason to revisit screening guidelines for older men more broadly. Some physicians argue that skipping PSA testing after age 70 leaves a dangerous gap, especially for aggressive cancers that don't follow typical slow-growing patterns, according to Fox News.
Jill has also acknowledged in earlier interviews that, knowing what they know now, one major decision might have changed: whether Joe would have run for reelection at all had the diagnosis come earlier.

For now, the couple is focused on what's in front of them. Jill continues to describe her role as a caregiver in blunt, honest terms, saying she worries daily about whether Joe is eating well, exercising, and keeping up with his medication.
"It's part of my legacy — I hope it's part of Joe's legacy, that we will keep fighting, just like we did in those four years. We will keep fighting for the American people," she said.
