3. Inspect the bathroom and bedding

This is undoubtedly the most tangible check—and the one that can truly ruin a stay if neglected. The bathroom speaks volumes about the overall cleanliness of the establishment.

Before taking a shower, check the faucets: excessive limescale buildup, rust around the seals, mold in the corners, low water pressure… These small signs often indicate inadequate maintenance. In your room, check that the sheets, pillowcases, and towels are spotless. If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to ask for replacements at reception.
