How to do it:
Hold the honey bottle upright.
Shake it gently a few times.
Turn the bottle upside down.
Watch how the air bubbles move.
What some people look for:
Thicker honey tends to slow bubble movement because of its higher viscosity.
Thinner honey may allow bubbles to rise more quickly.
Important note:
This test primarily measures thickness—not purity.
Many factors affect viscosity, including:
Moisture content
Temperature
Floral source
Age of the honey
So while the bubble test can tell you something about consistency, it cannot reliably confirm whether honey is pure or adulterated.
