My BIL Borrowed My Brand-New Crossover, Turned It Into a Dumpster, and Refused to Pay for Detailing – That Evening, He Called Me Screaming, 'How Dare You?'

"We bought it."

"This is exactly what I need tonight."

"For what?" Timothy asked.

"There's a party. Can I borrow it?"

"No," I said. "Tim, it's brand new."

Jake's hand stopped on the hood.

"What?"

"We brought it home today," I added. "We haven't even enjoyed it yet."

"Tim, it's brand new."

"So?"

"So, you're not borrowing it."

He laughed as though I'd made a joke.

"You're serious?"

"Yes."

He looked at Timothy.

"You're serious?"

Timothy shifted beside me, and my excitement began to fade. He always became a pushover around Jake.

"It's one night," my husband said. "It'll be okay, Elle."

"It's our first night with it, Tim. I wanted us to take a long drive and get ice cream or something. I wanted it to be...special."

Jake opened his arms.

"I'll be careful, guys. You can have your date or whatever tomorrow."
